Most equipment operators will relate to and understand that hydraulic failures can be costly, and are due in many instances to sub quality performance from the hydraulic oils, either causing premature wear or heat related failures.

With most oil companies selling Hydraulic oil on price (not quality), the quality is almost always questionable. The first way to making a cheap oil, is to skimp on additives and base oil quality.

As components in pumps etc are being designed with less tolerances now than in the past, and operating pressures are now relatively higher and from smaller pumps, a lot more is expected from the oil.

Synforce has produced a range of Hydraulic oils now recognised to be amongst, if not the best available in Australia, today.

Base Oils ... used in all our hydraulics are Group 2 Hydrocracked, renowned world wide to be the best, and guaranteed to perform better than other mineral oils under severe conditions.

Cleanliness ...  Oil contamination is the biggest enemy of any equipment, and brings on early and expensive component failure.   We have achieved "off the shelf" cleanliness ratings to which no other company that we know has been able to achieve, let alone boast.

Anti Wear overtreat ... this reduces wear significantly and leads to extended component life.

Viscosity Index ... The ability of the oil to stay in grade under both normal and severe operating conditions, and boast our oils to have the highest Viscosity Index of any hydraulic oil on the market in Australia today, that we know of.

Shear Stability ... Viscosity modifiers used in oils are quoted as having shear stability rating, expressed as SSI (Shear Stability Index), and the lower the rating number, the better the resistance to shear. We use only the best available Viscosity Modifiers with the lowest SSI

Synforce Hydraulics have the best available cleanliness rating, the highest anti wear protection, the highest ability to withstand the effects of viscosity change due to heat (Viscosity Index), and are made from only the most Shear Stable components available in Australia today, giving our product the best SSI available. No one does Hydraulics better than Synforce.

This photograph was taken by the owner of a Massey Ferguson front end loader hydraulic/transmission filter who was experiencing malfunctions in the transmission, power steering and hydraulics to the point that he only had intermittent operation.

We forwarded this photo to a Lubrizol additives representative who in turn commented and we quote;

“The contamination is a gathering of the Polymer used in the lubricant as a result of the lubricant being poorly and almost certainly cold blended, Polymers do not mix as well in cold blended lubricants as opposed to hot blended lubricants”

We have always pushed our hot blend system as the ultimate method and have always quoted that polymers in cold blended lubricants can cause exactly this problem; the photo can only be seen as documented proof.

After cleaning the system etc. and refilling with Synforce product the machine began to operate correctly, the owner was lucky in this instance as significant damage to the transmission and hydraulics etc. could have easily occurred due to insufficient lubricant being available to moving parts, the filter was blocked to the point of allowing only a very small amount of lubricant to pass through it, had the owner operated the machine for much longer the result could have been disastrous.

It would be fair to say that all the “cheap” lubricants will suffer from this at some point and that can result in significant equipment damage

Polymers are used to create Multi-grade oils and it is commonly known throughout the lubricant manufacturing industry that they do not mix properly in a cold blend, they require blend temperatures of approx. 55 deg C and agitation for a suitable period of time to bond correctly and evenly throughout the finished product.

When Polymers are supplied to blenders they come in a very thick and sticky form, much thicker than say honey, and they require elevated temperatures to get them to “near liquid” form.
